Stefan Hillesheim Band Bio

The Stefan Hillesheim Band consists of a number of session musicians around band leader Stefan Hillesheim. The initial motivation to start his own project came to Stefan when one of his first touring bands Last Exit to Anywhere split up in 2009. Ex Last Exit guitarist Paul Klein and his brother Martin Klein were the first rhythm section.

The first few performances were a blend of original material and Stefan’s interpretations of blues and rock classics. The trio played performances at well known live music clubs like “Excalibur” and “Kleine Freiheit” in Koblenz (Germany) and focused of writing original songs. In the following years the group around lead singer and guitarist Stefan Hillesheim changed and he decided to go with veteran drummer Alex Sauerlaender and his “rhythm twin” Mathias Wendels.

Alex and Mathias have played together with a number of successful and international touring bands like Lucifire, Blueside, Catastrophe Ballet,  Jet Set. Before Stefan moved to Los Angeles (CA) he decided to record acoustic versions of  a few selected original Songs with classical guitarist Aaron Hannelly from Sydney (Australia).

When Stefan Hillesheim attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood (CA) he regrouped the band as a trio with Naama Levy (Israel) and Austin Callender (US). The Band played performances around California and Stefan brought a number of special guests on stage like gospel drummer Jamar Young and piano legend Anthony Llorens, who played with Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan for more than a decade.

In September 2016 Stefan recolated to San Diego (CA) where he curently plays with Liquid Blue, Kicks, the Gold Standard, K Emeline and the Diana Ferrer Band.
